Our Services

At OG Repair, we are focused on technical sewing and mending for outdoor apparel and gear. Our approach is community-focused and sustainable, with a special focus on gear circularity and recycling. Whether you need a small repair or a complete overhaul, we've got you covered.

Gear Repair

We repair most outdoor gear, but ask that items be clean before they arrive, otherwise we may turn away a repair if it's too soiled for us to handle.

Common Services:

  • zipper fix or replacement

  • hole patching

  • seam reinforcement & gussets

  • tailoring and hemming

  • modifications

Common Items We Fix:

  • jackets

  • pants

  • backpacks & bags

  • tents

  • sleeping bags

  • hats & gloves

  • gortex & waterproof repair

We do not repair items like shoes, safety items like harnesses, any hard items like skis and bike stuff and large items like large canvas tents and camper fabrics.

Discrete or Celebratory Repairs

Repairs can be made discretely or celebratory!

Gear Recycling

We focus on waste reduction and gear circularity, not only in keeping your gear going, but using up-cycled materials where possible. Donate your unwanted gear to OG repair and you will receive a discount on future repairs. Discount varies depending on donation.

Gear Maintenance

Regularly wash your gear, especially tents, sleeping bags and ski jackets. You can wash them in a regular machine with regular detergent. This will not only extend the life of your garment, if you do send it back for warranty, it's more likely to be approved for warranty if it's been properly maintained.

Tips!

Rubbing alcohol is great at removing sticky residue from your apparel and gear

About

Hannah DeBoer-Smith, owner of OG Repair

About the Owner

OG Repair is a one person show, run and operated by Hannah DeBoer-Smith, currently out of her home. Hannah was a participant in the Community Futures Business Development program, which is what allowed the business to get off the ground.

Hannah has been sewing for close to 30 years, and is finally putting those skills to use. Hannah isn't your typical outdoor Kootenay person, she's outsidesey: doesn't downhill ski, doesn't mountain bike, doesn't climb, but is outside no less, just in a slower fashion — xcountry skiing, hiking (but not fussed about getting to the top), foraging and wandering outside.

Along with sewing Hannah is also a tattoo artist (see mom approved tattoos), a musician, and a maker of many delicious and practical things.

Vision

To foster a community that values longevity over disposability, where every repaired garment tells a story. Through commitment to craftsmanship and sustainable practices, we aim to support a culture of responsible outdoor exploration.

Mission

To breathe new life into your outdoor apparel in the heart of the Kootenays. By diverting gear from landfills, OG strives to be part of a greener outdoor community, promoting a circular economy.

Values

  • Sustainability
  • Craftsmanship
  • Community
  • Innovation
  • Transparency

Respecting both nature and individuals, we aim to create a positive impact, one repair at a time.
